Fantasy Jet Planes Projects

Fantasy Human Jet Fighters

While the main focus of my creative work is speculative spaceship design, I have a love for military aircraft and their often colorful paint schemes / liveries.  I also enjoy military insignia.  I am particularly fond of jet fighters from the late 20th and early 21st centuries.  This project presents fictional jet aircraft from four air forces: late cold war West Germany and Soviet Union, modern re-unified Germany, and an alternative United States of America.

Some of the fantasy jet designs utilized free jet models found online in SketchUp’s 3D Warehouse and modified as needed. Others were based on 2D color illustrations done by these artists on www.deviantart.com: bagera3005, diasmon, haryopanji and jetfreak_7.  It is their images and the work of fellow DeviantArt artist WS_Clave that inspired me to do this project.

Fantasy German Luftwaffe

This project serves two purposes. The first is to document my favorite airplane model kits from my teenage years and the color schemes I used on them in virtual form. The second is to add to this collection with some planes I would have built had they been available when I was a teenager. Also, I wanted to add some new color schemes to the planes I built as a teenager. All the planes use the West German airforce markings that I am so fond of and feature both real and fantasy color schemes. I think of this project as my fantasy West German Luftwaffe.

All of the airplane designs utilized free models found online in SketchUp’s 3D Warehouse and modified as needed.
